Dearborn is losing funding in a few different areas. 31a is at risk funding. 20j is where they give us a little of our tax dollars back for being a donor city(we pay more than we get back for our schools). There is also the cut per pupil that everyone is receiving.

Not only did they give the new Education Foundation Director $70,000 they also let him keep his other full time job. Double dipping at the District expense which equals our tax dollars.

Wasteful spending also got us in this boat. Whiston gave the Education Foundation $70,000 this year so they could hire a full time director. WHY? The Foundation has raised over a million dollars. They should be paying for their own director. Why are my tax dollars paying for this? He has also put it in the budget for the 2010-2011 school year. That's $140,000 right there. There are plenty more examples out there.

Thank you State Representative Gino Poladori and Governor Granholm. This is enough to make me vote Republican (at least in this next election). The leadership team of Poladori and Granholm together has devastated public education in Dearborn. I know, they will blame it on the other party, but the fact of the matter is that they have both failed the citizens and especially the children.

A year from now we will have an opportunity to clean house. If a candidate and their party have failed to deliver...their gone. I'll admit it, I voted for both members of the Poladori/Granholm Team, but I wish I could take my vote back.

We need to elect people who will go to Lansing and fight for us, not opportunistic politicians that jump from office to office for a bigger paycheck and more pension money. Next November, I don't care what party a candidate is running in, I'm voting for the best candidate that’s going to deliver for our schools.

Mr. Deep, the newspapers are all reporting that the $4.9 Million cut that Dearborn suffered from a special payment was the elimination of an 'extra' payment to high-spending districts. Our superintendent, however, is saying that money was to take care of 'at-risk' students.

Can you explain the widely-different stories? I had wondered, if Dearborn had been receiving extra money because we were a 'high-spending' district, then where is Birmingham or Bloomfield Hills on that list? They spent far more than Dearborn, in the past.
