Well, there is allegedly/reportedly those millions that were squirreled away into offshore accounts…in places like the Cayman Islands, where international monetary laws really don’t exist…so good luck getting any of that back into Dearborn…

it isn’t urban legend. it was started and stopped using a non-traditional method and it failed. set the city back and cost us taxpayers hundreds of millions in the process. oh, yeah one head did roll years and years later. Kurt giberson decided to “retire”, an agreed upon way for him to leave the city and still get a pension. he was the one who pushed this crazy project (he knew nothing about engineering, by the way) and then guido backed it. it was crazy. go some searches in the local papers. it was bad money after more bad money. even better is that the council (many still on the council today) approved the crazy project, even the current mayor.
one big MESS!!

Has anyone else heard the oft-repeated urban legend (?) that the CSO project WAS started under the late mayor guido’s watch several years ago, but was conducted using an experimental/non-traditional method brought over from Italy (no, not the Roman aqueducts), resulting in disastrous underground collapsing of infrastructure and pipes. This failed and expensive initial attempt allegedly is why it is costing Dearborn taxpayers so much money and time for the do-over.

Spoiled Dearborn Citizen!!!

I think the Citizens of Dearborn have been very patient and for the most part pretty forgiving (considering that everyone keeps getting re-elected).

As of August 2009…..
Check out how many CSO Projects are “Operational” compared to Dearborn which are “In Construction”. We are even behind Detroit!

Be sure to make note of the cost too.
Subtotal – $335,705,000

Many of the other municipalities took advantage of getting the projects done right away thus taking advantage of lower costs and not having to burden the taxpayers.

The fact that the contractor is trying to squeeze two years worth of work into one is of no comfort to me.

There goes another spoiled Dearborn citizen: Fix my street, but don’t inconvenience me. The fact is that the contractor is trying to squeeze two years worth of work into one so the residents don’t have to put up with the mess for two years. The City doesn’t do these things for fun…
