New Dearborn Businesses Coming to Telegraph Road

Searching for a more visible location, AT&T plans to open a retail store at the corner of Telegraph and Oxford, a city official confirms to Deepsaidwhat.com

The location was the former home of a muffler shop that was recently razed.

AT&T currently operates a store in the small strip mall (near CVS) on the east side of Telegraph that is accessible to northbound Telegraph traffic but that location doesn’t offer the company the kind of visibility they would like to have to attract customers.

It isn’t clear whether AT&T will keep both locations or simply close the store in the strip mall once the new location is built.

Separately, work is fast underway to transform the former golf store on Telegraph, just north of Cherry Hill, into a new medical office building. Half of the building was demolished and a new face has been bricked in already, revealing what looks to be much more attractive structure in that location.

Great news. The golf store was looking pretty bad. Any updates on the medical building that was designed for Cherry Hill and Military?

I think this new AT&T location will help somewhat, because as Deep states, I never saw any viable business in that hidden location near CVS when I picked up mom’s “scrips”.

I too would like to hear the status of the medical building proposed for Cherry Hill and Military. I know that in my city telecom commission meeting the last time this was discussed, the city was working with AT&T trying to get them to move those huge boxes off of Cherry Hill which look tacky and also which block the planned driveway/lot that was going in.

By the way, WOW and Comcast show up regularly to our monthly meeting, but AT&T keeps saying they’re coming and they never show up. We just had another meeting cancelled due to them cancelling again. There is some state law that allows AT&T to get away with this and if they want to do cable business in Dearborn they should be required to attend these telecom meetings regularly and the state law should change in my opinion.

The new AT&T building looks ridiculous next to Bangkok 96. Couldn’t they have positioned the building differently as its going to totally dwarf poor Bangkok.

Rob B I thought the same thing!

    Rob B,

I agree as well. Another issue about the newer AT&T WIRELESS store is that Telegraph is so wide and much of the traffic travels almost at freeway speed, that they would have been better putting it on a road like Michigan Avenue. But then again, AT&T probably couldn’t afford the price per square foot. :)
